The rain is falling quietly outside my window. My little street is abuzz with children walking home from school, cars splashing through puddles on their way down the narrow road, and the bells from the church ringing through the air.
The little villages of Giggleswick and Settle both feel incredibly peaceful, and the people here are very friendly. It’s quite the opposite of my experience near London. Here they smile at you as you walk by and say hello. Although I haven’t had much time here yet, I can already tell there is a night-and-day difference between the two places.
There is a cheese shop just up the road, which I, of course, have already visited. I think I sampled all the cheese they had available, and my goodness, it was all just glorious! It will certainly be a place I return to often. It’s also been fun walking into town to do some shopping, and there is no shortage of coffee shops in the area!
Settling into a new place can be a struggle. Everything is new, and that can be quite a shock to the system! I, however, have been blessed with family helping me settle in, showing me around, and getting me connected to the community. I’ve attended a small group this week, which was lovely, and I look forward to attending church service on Sunday. I’ll also be meeting with the pastor next week, and will hopefully have more to share about that soon.
Right now, I am leaning into the peacefulness of this place and allowing myself the space to get acquainted with my new home. I am trying to find my new normal—a new rhythm. I am encouraged and expectant of what the Lord is doing, and I am looking forward to sharing more as it comes!
Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
